John Walton (Continental Congress)

John Walton (* 1738 in Virginia; † 1783 in New Savannah, Georgia) was an American politician and a settler near Augusta, Georgia. He was a brother of George Walton, Governor and U.S. Senator from Georgia, and cousin of Matthew Walton, U.S. Representative for Kentucky.

Walton was elected in 1775 as a delegate from St. Paul Parish in the provincial congress in Savannah. Then he was elected to the Continental Congress on 26 February 1778 where he signed the Articles of Confederation on 24 July 1778. He also spent several years surveyor in Richmond County before he died in 1783.
