The Jordanian dinar (Arabic دينار, DMG Dinar ) is the currency of Jordan and the Palestinian territories in the West Bank. A Dinar is divided into 100 piasters ( Arabic term Qirsch ).

There are coins in denominations of 1 piastres, 5 piastres, 10 piastres, ¼, ½ dinar dinars in circulation. The ½ - dinar coin is a bimetal. Notes are in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dinars.

Originally, the dinar was subdivided into 10 dirham or 1000 fils. In 1992, the Dirham and Fils was replaced by the hundredth division piastres. Coins of the old divisions are now scarcely to be found still in circulation. Before the introduction of Piasters there were the following coins: 5 fils, 10 fils, 25 fils, 50 fils, 100 fils, ¼ dinar, ½ and 1 dinar dinars.

Shortly after the introduction of Piasters also coins worth Qirsh ½, 2 ½ piastres, ½ dinar ( monometallic ) were minted.

The Jordanian Dinar is coupled since 1995 firmly against the U.S. dollar, for the fixed exchange rate but found different values of 1 USD = 0.708 JOD to 1 USD = 0.7095 JOD.
