Jörg Landvoigt

Jörg Landvoigt ( born March 23, 1951 in Brandenburg ( Havel ), Land Brandenburg, East Germany ) is a retired German rower, rowing coach and now a sports official. He was together with his twin brother Bernd Landvoigt twice Olympic champion and four times world champion in pairs without coxswain.
Jörg Voigt country began in 1965 with his brother, his sports career at BSG unit Brandenburg and has been delegated to Potsdam for Children and Youth Sports School and the club SG Dynamo Potsdam in 1969. He won his first major international success with the 1972 Olympics in Munich, where he won the bronze medal as a member of the East German rowing eight.
Later he formed with his twin brother Bernd one of the most successful two without ever that reached 179 victories in 180 consecutive races.
Both in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal as well as in the Games in 1980 they were Olympic champions. They also won at the World Championships 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979 and were washed three times champion of the GDR (1974, 1978 and 1979). 1980 both ended the competitive sports.
Besides his career he completed successful 1969-1977 sports studies and worked after his active period from 1980 to 1996 as a coach for the SG Dynamo Potsdam, which was continued from 1990 as Potsdamer Rowing Society.
Today he works as a consultant for competitive sports in the Sports Federation of Brandenburg. Volunteering Landvoigt since 1998 Chairman of the Havel - racing club in 1920, to take care of the hosting regional and national rowing competitions in the space of Potsdam and Brandenburg. As part of this honor duties, he was also Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the rudder Junior World Championships 2005 Rowing U23 World Championships 2008, both held in his hometown.
His son Ike Landvoigt (* 1973) was also a successful rower, who was initially trained by his uncle Bernd Landvoigt. It was founded in 1995 with the Germany - eight world champions.
