Jougne
Jougne is a commune with 1434 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Doubs and in the region of Franche -Comté, near the Swiss border.
Geography
The village lies on the road between Lausanne and Vallorbe to Besançon ( European route 23). Above the town on the Col de Jougne is the watershed between the basins of the Rhine and the Rhone.
History
Between 1875 and 1939 the village was located on the Chemin de fer de of the Jougne à Eclépens (JE) built a railroad from Vallorbe to Pontarlier. In 1942, the route was canceled.
Community partnership
Jougne is twinned with the Italian community Buttigliera Alta in Piedmont.
