Saint -Antoine is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Saint -Antoine is located at 958 m above sea level, about 14 km south of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a basin in the eastern part of the longitudinal cavity of the Haut-Doubs, at the northern foot of the Morond, near the border with Switzerland.

History

The area of Saint -Antoine was cleared in the 12th century by the monks of the monastery of Mont -Sainte -Marie and reclaimed. A chapel dedicated to St. Anthony, 1309 is first mentioned; the village was still called Rougebief. Since the Middle Ages belonged to the monastery of Saint -Antoine reign of Mont -Sainte -Marie. Attractions
