Le Crouzet

Le Crouzet is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Crouzet is at 1,028 m above sea level, about 28 km southwest of the town of Pontarlier ( straight line ) is approximately in the middle of a straight line between Besançon and Geneva. It is located in the Jura Mountains, in the valley of the Combes Derniers south of the chain of haute Joux.

Most of the 3.77 km ² municipal area is located in the valley basin of Derniers Combes (1020 m above sea level. M. ), which forms a syncline of the Jura Mountains in structural geological terms. This valley is flanked to the south of the crests of the Bois de Ban ( 1095 m). In the north, the municipality's area extends to the densely wooded or wide tooth comb haute Joux. Here it is with 1212m the highest point reached by Le Crouzet. The whole area shows no surface watercourses, as the rain water seeps into the karst underground.

Neighboring communities of Le Crouzet Fraroz and Cerniébaud in the north, the east, and Reculfoz Petite- Chaux -Neuve Chaux and in the south.

Except Le Crouzet are currently the communities Reculfoz, Les Pontets and Rondefontaine in the Combes Derniers.

History

The area of Le Crouzet has been inhabited since the 12th century. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the reign of Mouthe. Together with the Franche -Comté it came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Today Le Crouzet is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Hauts du Doubs.

Attractions

The chapel Sainte -Anne was built in 1633 and completely restored in 1985 for the last time.

Population

With 65 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Le Crouzet is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased dramatically in the first half of the 20th century (1886 107 persons were still counted ), takes the population and number of houses since the beginning of the 21st century significantly.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Crouzet was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. Today a resident lives only by the dairy industry. A portion of the workforce are commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns, and in the nearby Switzerland their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Chaux- Neuve to Remoray - Boujeons by Combes Derniers.
