Junkers A 32

The Junkers A 32 was a multi-purpose aircraft of the German manufacturer Junkers from the 1920s. It was designed as a single-engine low-wing aircraft and could accommodate three people. Since there were no buyers, the production ended after only two copies.

History

The mid- 1920s Junkers began with the development of a new multi-purpose aircraft. It should be able to be used as a post, courier or aerial survey aircraft. In a closed cabin was omitted here. Thanks to a powerful 12-cylinder engine, it was one of the faster aircraft of its time. 1926 was presented as No. 32 to the public. In the same year, the trials began.

The aircraft proved to be too expensive for the small airlines for which it was designed. Therefore, the only two built machines remained in the possession of the manufacturer and were used for testing purposes only.

Construction

The A 32 was a continuous tape as a low-wing all-metal aircraft with Wellblechbeplankung. As in the case of the Junkers T 29 via the full-span ailerons end were designed as Junkers double-wing. It had room for a pilot and two passengers on consecutive open seats. The rear seat was positioned so that aerial photography was not a problem.

Originally a 331 kW motor BMW V VI L-1 was used. He was later replaced by the newly developed Junkers L 55. The A 32 were the first Junkers aircraft, which were equipped with a V-engine.
