Jürgen Rosenthal

Jürgen Rosenthal ( born July 28, 1949 in Rose Garden ) is a German drummer. He was particularly known for his membership in the Scorpions and Eloy.

Rosenthal has already received seven years of classical lessons in recorder and violin. With about 15 years, he finally found his instrument, the drums, which he taught himself. His first band, The Generations, he founded 1965. 1968 he met his future colleagues Eloy Klaus -Peter Matziol know and with him founded the band " Morrison Gulf ". In the early 1970s, Uli Jon Roth's drummer Fritz Randow moved to Eloy, he was offered the opportunity to take its place and was able to establish the band name "Dawn Road " there. Dawn Road eventually merged with the Scorpions, which at that time consisted only of Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker,. Together they recorded the second album Scorpions " Fly to the Rainbow ," in Munich, produced by Frank Bornemann ( Eloy ).

After his military service, Jürgen Rosenthal wanted to re-enter at the Scorpions, but was visited by Frank Bornemann and Klaus -Peter Matziol who were looking for a drummer for the new Eloy lineup. There he was able to give free rein to his creativity and delivered from 1976 to 1979 in addition to the drum work much on concepts as well as the majority of the texts for the Eloy studio albums.

Jürgen Rosenthal is considered by many fans as the most popular and influential drummer Eloy.

After the split of Eloy he pursued with his bandmates Detlev Schmidtchen the project "Ego on the rocks", for the first three releases were planned. Ego pledged to resist any Eloy reference and had the first production, " Acid in wounderland ", eventually self-financing. The album flopped, further funds were not last unavailable due to a legal dispute with the former Eloy colleagues, so you 1982 finally severed again. This was followed by investments in other musicians solo projects, especially from the Eloy environment.
