Kai Hospelt

Kai Hospelt ( born August 23, 1985 in Cologne ) is a German professional ice hockey player who plays for the Adler Mannheim in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga from the 2013/14 season.

Career

The winger started with ice hockey in the youth of the Kölner Haie where already his father Wim Hospelt played from 1972 to 1978 and 1977 German champion. In the 2000 /01 season Kai Hospelt first came into inserts in the junior team of KEC in the German junior league, where he rose immediately became a regular player. Already in its second season convinced the links Sagittarius by 106 points scorer in just 40 games. Thanks to this performance, he was appointed for the U18 World Cup 2002 in the DEB selection. A year later, the attacker was again top scorer of the DNL, although he was unable to attend some games, when he was at first inserts into the first team of sharks. So Hospelt could end the season 2002 /03 are also celebrating the runner-up in the German Hockey League DEL with the sharks. In 2003, the striker played again for the junior national team - both at the U18 World Championships as well as at the Junior World Cup, he wore the jersey DEB. In the summer Hospelt was finally pulled from the San Jose Sharks in NHL Entry Draft 2003 216th place.

After this transitional year, the offensive player should come only in the first team of the KEC from the season 2003/ 04 are used. He established himself as a striker in the fourth row, which allowed him regular ice age. In 2004 Hospelt, as also in the following year, again for the DEB at the Junior World Cup finals. Before the season 2004/ 05 the attacker suffered a torn ACL, so he missed much of the season and therefore his scoring rate from the previous year could not reach. In the season 2005/ 06 Hospelt scored a total of twelve points scorer and reached the semi-finals with the sharks of the play-offs.

At the beginning of the season 2007 /08, the left gunner pulled in the first season game again a cruciate ligament injury, but came four months later in the squad of the KEC. After the season, he left the sharks towards Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. Here Hospelt eventually developed into the national team, for service providers and a leading player in the Grizzly Adams and in 2012/13 season to the captain of his team. In summer 2012 it was announced that Hospelt will leave after the season the Grizzly Adams in the direction of Adler Mannheim.

Internationally

Hospelt took with the German national team at the Germany Cup in 2006 and 2008 and the World Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012 in part.
