Kamyshin
Kamyshin (Russian Камышин ) is a city on the right bank of the Volga River in southern Russia. It lies at the Volgograd reservoir halfway between Saratov and Volgograd. In Kamyshin the river flows Kamyschinka (Russian Камышинка ) in the reservoir. The city has 119 565 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ), making it the third largest city in the Volgograd Oblast.
History
Kamyshin was founded in 1668 as a village, and was occasionally used in the 18th century as a fortress.
