Geography

Geographical Location

The town lies in the Franconian Switzerland, at the foot of the Ehrenbürg, ( Walberla ) on the eponymous Ehrenbach.

  • Kirchehrenbach
  • St.Walpurgis on the Ehrenbürg ( Chapel )

History

The first written mention of the town was in 1089 as Arinbach. Kirchehrenbach belonged until 1803 to the Bishopric of Bamberg, which was in the Frankish Empire Circle from 1500, and came in the wake of the upheavals during the Napoleonic Wars, the Kingdom of Bavaria.

Mayor since 2008 Anja Gebhardt ( SPD). Its predecessor was Waldemar Hofmann ( CSU).

The local council of Kirchehrenbach has 15 members including the mayor.

The Coat of Arms description is: Over red sign foot, in a silver wave beams in blue on silver mountain a single-tower white church with red roofs.
