Langensendelbach is a municipality in the district of Forchheim ( district government of Upper Franconia ).

Geography

Geographical location

Langensendelbach located about nine kilometers south of Forchheim and seven kilometers north of Erlangen.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring municipalities are Marloffstein in the south, Neunkirchen am Brand in the southeast, Hetzles in the east, Effeltrich in the northeast, Poxdorf in the north, the west and Baierdorf Bubenreuth in the southwest.

History

Langensendelbach was one of the 14 places by Henry II came to the diocese of Bamberg 1007. In a document dated July 13, 1062 Langensendelbach was mentioned as a donation to the Diocese of Bamberg first name. The Augustinian monastery in Neunkirchen am Brand was to 1709 vicarage for the community. From 1500 the town was in the Frankish Empire circle. Belonging to the Bishopric of Bamberg ended with the secularization in 1803. The place ever since has been to Bavaria.

On April 11, 1979, a Phantom fighter plane crashed into the Bundeswehr Bräuningshof. The crew and a resident died. Two others were seriously injured.

Spin-offs

On May 1, 1978 parts of the territory with more than 600 inhabitants ( Igelsdorf ) to the city Baierdorf district of Erlangen- Hochstadt were assigned.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: In red diagonally crossed a golden key and a slumped golden sword, above a silver bloom, including a growing golden Abtstab.

Structures

Even from the pass Marloffstein from the parish church of St. Peter and Paul Catholic church can be seen. It was built in the early 20th century Art Nouveau and has baroque pieces from the previous church ( altar, pulpit, tower). The church has a high altar, a Marian grotto ( from Frankish tuff ), two side altars and a Steinmeyer organ; equipped ( II/21 1932).

Traffic

Langensendelbach is located in the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association. The nearest train station is three kilometers away in Baierdorf or in Bubenreuth on the railway line between Nuremberg and Bamberg. After Baierdorf take bus 256 of the bus and coach transport francs ( OVF). For trips to Erlangen, however is better the bus 208 of the OVF. At night and on weekends runs a Anrufsammeltaxi in the district.

The nearest motorway junctions are Baierdorf North and carrots village on the A73 Nuremberg -Bamberg.
