Hiltpoltstein is a market in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim and a member of the administrative community Graefenberg. The market is located around 25 kilometers north-east of Nuremberg.

Geography

Geographical Location

Hiltpoltstein is below a plateau in the Franconian Switzerland. At an altitude of over 500 meters above sea level the place is one of the highest places in the district of Forchheim. The neighboring municipalities are Obertrubach, Graefenberg, Betz stone and Simmelsdorf. The site is dominated by the castle Hiltpoltstein. The municipal area is located at the corner of Silver (602 meters above sea level) is the highest point of the district of Forchheim. It is a designated natural monument.

History

In 1109 the town was first mentioned as a possession of the monastery Weißenohe documented. 1188, the village belonged to the Hohenstaufen. After the execution of the last Hohenstaufen Conradin in 1268 the property fell to the Bavarian Duke Ludwig the austerities and in 1329 in the Palatinate. Fourteen years later bought by the Emperor Charles IV Count Palatine Ruprecht place and castle, and taught as an exclave of the Kingdom of Bohemia with a Pflegamt high court at the castle one. The place was awarded by King Sigismund market rights in 1417. In 1503 he joined the Bohemian fief to the imperial city of Nuremberg and became the seat of a Nuremberg Pflegamtes. 1806 came as the entire country by the Nuremberg Act of Confederation, to the newly created Kingdom of Bavaria. 1808 Hiltpoltstein was assigned to the district court Graefenberg in Pegnitz circle, the Rezatkreis 1810 and 1817 the Upper Main District.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Kappel and parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Lilling were incorporated ( Erlastrut and Wölfer village). In addition, parts of the territory ( Möchs ) the community Obertrubach ceded by then more than 50 residents at Hiltpoltstein.

Mayor since 2009 Gisela Bauer (Citizens for Hiltpoltstein ). Its predecessor was Johann Deuerlein (CDU ).

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms description is: oblique split of gold and red; launched a divided plate, in front in gold half, red gezungter black eagle at the opening, behind five times diagonally divided red and silver.

Sports

To Hiltpoltstein there are some hiking and Nordic walking routes. It is also designated a nature trail. For rock climbers around the Hiltpoltstein offers numerous climbing rocks with well over 100 different climbing routes.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The municipality is situated on the main road 2 from Nuremberg to Bayreuth. The A 9 can be reached via the Hormersdorf connection (about nine kilometers ). The county town of Forchheim is located approximately 23 kilometers west of Erlangen and about 31 km southwest of the community.
