Geographical location

Simmelsdorf is located in the northern part of Bavaria in Germany, 30 kilometers north-east of Nuremberg and is part of the Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg. Simmelsdorf and its villages are in the Schnaittach to Schnaittach river and its tributaries. Geology and Hydrology

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1931, part of the formerly independent municipality Rabenshof was incorporated. On 1 July 1971, added Diepoltsdorf. On January 1, 1972, the merger took place with the community Hüttenbach. Großengsee was added later. Oberndorf was followed on 1 January 1978.

Already on 1 April 1971 the parish Utzmannsbach lost its independence and was awarded Diepoltsdorf.
