Krk (town)

Krk [ KRK ] [it. Veglia ] is the largest and most important city, as well as resort and port in the bay on the west coast of the same island Krk, located about 25 km from the Krk Bridge. The municipality has 6,281 inhabitants, the town of Krk 3,730 ( 2011 census ). Krk is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Krk.

History

The former Roman municipium and seat Frankopan is one of the oldest and most popular resorts on the Adriatic. Once the city of Krk was a stronghold of the Dalmatian language. In 1866 there was the first picture postcards of the city, so this year is considered the beginning of tourism on the island. Krk is the historical and administrative, political, economic and religious center of the island of Krk. Quirin is the patron saint of the city.

Fiber-optic network

In the year 2009. Initiated the town of Krk, a project, a nationwide fiber-optic network to be built as part of the local infrastructure with the on the whole territory of the town of Krk ( Krk town and 14 adjacent villages ). 2009/2010 a feasibility study was prepared.
