Kulturfabrik Esch-sur-Alzette (luxembourg)

The Culture Factory ( officially Centre culturel Culture Factory ) is a cultural center in Esch -sur-Alzette in the south of Luxembourg, in the buildings of a former municipal slaughterhouse of the 19th century.

History

From 1885 / 86-1979, the building was used as a slaughterhouse of the city of Esch- Alzette. From 1982 a troupe of young actors, begins " Theater GmbH ", so to convert the existing premises in rehearsal and performance halls. 1983 created the Association Culture Factory. From 1984 to 1995 artistic and socio-cultural activities of every kind there are unfolded. End of 1996, a convention between the state, community and culture factory is signed on 2 October 1998, the cultural center of the culture factory officially opened.

The culture factory is now a place of exchange and creation, as well as an engine for sustainable development and provides artist residencies.

Equipment

The culture factory has 4,500 m² of floor space, which consists of a large function room with 950 standing room and 270 seats, a small meeting room with 250 standing room, the " rate Lach " for literary evenings and cabaret with 35 seats, an art gallery ( " Gallery Terres Rouges" ) six rehearsal rooms for bands and three rooms for studios, workshops, musical groups and theater as well as samples of the ceramic factory and two other important premises, the cinema ( " Kinosch " ) and the restaurant " K116 " made ​​.
