Therefore, they agreed to cooperate again with an outside producer for the first time since 1963. Brian Wilson Bruce Johnston made the offer to work with them. Johnston was from 1965-1972 a member of the Beach Boys and in live performance replacement for Brian Wilson .. He knew the band and the characters he knew which way the music preferred the band. He also had the 1978 Grammy Award for Single of the Year for the song I Write the Songs, performed by Barry Manilow received, and had thus become interesting again for the band. Johnston's task was to produce not only the songs, he had to act as mediator. He tried to respond to all the suggestions of the band members, and not one at a disadvantage. Guerico and the band worked with as a co- producer.

Carl Wilson had gained the upper hand in the band. He took his brother Dennis, who was briefly fired from the band in the group back. This was working on his second album Bamboo and now had the choice to further his solo career or return to the band. Dennis decided to use the band. He brought the two songs Baby Blue Eyes and Love Surrounds Me in the album with. However, these two pieces were the cornerstones of his new album, which had died with it.

Song Info

Bruce Johnston and Curt cup produced a 10-minute disco version of Here Comes the Night which had already appeared in 1968 on the album Wild Honey. With the single, the Beach Boys were able to slip to number 44 on the Billboard charts. However, many fans could not get used to the new style. The Beach Boys themselves were not enthusiastic about the piece. If they played it live because she apologized mostly before the public.

Good Timin ' was the second single from the album, reaching number 40 on the charts. The song had been written in 1974 and recorded with James Guerico in the recording studio. Especially Dennis was very excited about this piece and called it a "new surfer girl". Live sang first Dennis the lead vocal, then Mike. Only for the album recording was decided to use Carl as the lead singer.

Lady Lynda is based on Johann Sebastian Bach's Well to me that I have Jesus. Al Jardine wrote this song for his wife .. It peaked in the UK charts the excellent 6th place.

Full Sail, Angel Come Home and Goin 'South were written in collaboration with songwriter Geoffrey Cushing - Murray, a friend of Carl Wilson's brother Billy Hinsche. These songs do not belong to Carl's greatest moments in his career, rather they were for him a kind of therapy to create music again after recovering from his heroin addiction.

Sumahama contains passages sung in Japanese and English. The song is about a family that was torn apart. The word " Sumahama " means as much as "white beach ". The song was originally planned for Love's unreleased solo album First Love. The Japanese text is taken from his then-girlfriend Kelly Sumako. If you translate the text from the Japanese, he is a rather pointless babble .. The song debuted very surprising in the Top 50 on the British charts.

Baby Blue was written by Dennis Wilson, whose then wife Karen Lamb and Gregg Jacobson. Both songs by Dennis Wilson were originally scheduled for his never released solo album Bamboo.

Shortenin ' Bread is next to the opening song, the only contribution by Brian Wilson on this album. It is an adaptation of a popular children's song .. It is one of Brian's favorite songs.
