Live in London is an album by the Beach Boys from the year 1970. It is the second live album of the group.

Genesis

The photo was taken at a concert on 1 December 1968 London Palladium, one of the famous West End theaters in London, and a concert at Finsbury Park on 12 August 1968. Musical The head of the group, Brian Wilson was not at this show present. His role took over Bruce Johnston.

The album features the Beach Boys experienced with then-current singles ( Bluebirds Over the Mountain), some Pet Sounds pieces ( God Only Knows, Sloop John B) and an addition in the form of Barbara Ann. In gene set for live album Beach Boys Concert this only already published pieces with Bluebirds Over The Mountain ( from Ersel Hickey ), Their Hearts Were Full of Spring includes ( Bobby Troup ) and Barbara Ann ( Fred Fassert ) only three cover versions.

As their songs became more and more demanding of 5 man on the stage still reproducible, the Beach Boys Mike Kowalski, Darryl Dragon and Ed Carter supported as an accompanist. Carter had been in 1965 as a replacement for Brian Wilson in conversation.

The album was initially released only in the UK, because the team had lost in the late 1960s in the United States greatly in popularity. The Beach Boys were displaced by the current hippie movement. Capitol Records did not expect to make recording a lot of money. In Europe, the Beach Boys were, however, still one of the stars of rock music and so they brought the LP in May 1970 to the market, however, was live in London in the British singles chart success. The album then first released in 1971 in Japan and a year later in France, Holland and Germany.

In the U.S., the album was not released until 1976, due to a comeback of the group at that time, under the title Beach Boys '69. Apart from a new cover it's the same album. This version reached in the fall of 1976, number 75 in the U.S. charts.

Their 2001 release, Live in London along with Beach Boys Concert ( 1964) on CD. As a bonus track Do not Worry Baby outtake as the 1964 album and Heroes & Villains were added in a version from 1967 from a live show in Hawaii.
