Geography

Lechbruck lies in the Allgäu region, directly on the west bank of the Lech.

History

The community name was first mentioned in the year 1398. Lechbruck belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

The place had before the construction of the railway market Oberndorf -Lech Lech Bruck and the regulation has a long tradition as " Flößerdorf ". The courageous Lech Brucker rafters were responsible for the rafts of mountain woods, stone and building materials, charcoal and food from the upper to the Lech Valley in the Augsburg area. Quite a few rafts to 1819 even drove down the Danube to Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade.

Partnership

On June 28, 2012, the City Council of Düren has decided to conclude a partnership agreement between the districts Lendersdorf and Lechbruck. There is also a partnership with the Brandenburg town of Wildau.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 2.158, 1987, 2248, 2008 counted 2,511 inhabitants in 2000 and 2,522 a year.
