List of light-rail transit systems

The list of cities with light rail is to give an overview of the world's existing light rail systems. For a clear distinction to the list of cities with subways are on this page those businesses who are not full-fledged metro area in the entire network, including companies in which individual lines meet all metro criteria (eg Frankfurt U4 before its extension to Enkheim or the light rail line U18 from Essen to Mülheim an der Ruhr). Note: U35 in Bochum to Herne is also only a light rail line, because it has four level crossings with same roads in a short section.
