List of regional parks of Italy

The Regional Park in Italy (Italian: Parchi regionali ) include land, river, lake and in some cases marine areas near the coast. The natural parks are characterized by a high proportion of ecologically valuable natural landscapes and traditional cultural landscapes.

The establishment and maintenance of regional parks was regulated by Decree (Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica) 616/77 and delivered into the competence of the individual regions. Currently listed the EUAP ( Elenco ufficiale delle aree protette to German: Official Register of protected areas ) 134 regional parks, with a total area of ​​1.3 million hectares. The list also includes natural parks, which are not managed in EUAP.

A feature of the park is its extremely dense forest. In addition there are various scrubland ( maquis ) alternating with pastures and farmland. Great importance within the park to enjoy the religious places of worship, such as the Abbazia dei Monaci Certosini di Serra S. Bruno ( a centuries-old abbey ) and the grave of Saint Bruno of Cologne. The mountain range of the Serre enclosing territory is crossed by a number of smaller watercourses and has a temperate to warm (summer ) climate.
