List of towns in Hong Kong

The list of villages in Hong Kong provides an overview of the villages of Hong Kong. For cities of a certain size, the development of the population is shown.

Hong Kong has a unit management, are provided in the cities are not as separate entities. The boundaries of Victoria City, Kowloon, New Kowloon and the New Territories were established by law, but these areas have no legal status. The districting follows mountain ranges, coastal or roads and not take into account the urban expansion of the settlements.

The name Victoria City and New Kowloon are no longer accessible. Under Kowloon today fall also the areas that were formerly known as New Kowloon. The following table shows the historical city names to the corresponding present-day districts.

Cities by population

The following table shows the population of the larger towns, where the division into cities was based on geographic region, which does not coincide with the official classification. Included are the names in English and Chinese, the results of the censuses ( VZ ) of 15 March 1996 March 14, 2001, July 15, 2006 and 30 June 2011 and the area in which is situated the city. The population figures are from citypopulation.de and depend on the interpretation of the City limits from, so they are not necessarily comparable to other sources.
