Livio Trapè

Livio Trape ( born May 26, 1937 in Montefiascone ) is a former Italian cyclist, who won two Olympic medals in 1960.

After he had become in 1960 by Italian masters of the amateurs in the road race, TRAPE was considered one of the great hopes of the hosts at the Olympic Games in Rome.

In the inaugural 100 -mile driving team he started with Antonio Bailetti, Ottavio Cogliati and Giacomo Fornoni. The Italian won four in 2:14:33,53 hours with almost two and a half minutes ahead of the team from the GDR to Täve Schur and over four minutes ahead of the Soviet team to Viktor Kapitonov.

Four days after the team time trial the individual road race was held on a circuit of 14.615 km per lap over twelve rounds. The start and finish were on the Via Flaminia. After eight rounds, Kapitonov and TRAPE sparked the leading group and drove out a lead of two and a half minutes. Shortly before the end of the eleventh round sprinted Kapitonov and ran joyfully to the finish line; only as TRAPE drove past him, Kapitonov was aware that he had been looking a round too early. TRAPE now trying to save his lead to the finish, but Kapitonov came slowly toward back and won after 4:20:37 hours with a tire width before TRAPE.

TRAPE turned professional after the Olympics. He won in 1961 a smaller tour and was second in the 1962 Tour of Lombardy. Great Victory not reach him, in 1964 he crashed in the Giro d' Italia, 1966, he finished at the Vuelta a España 45th place

After his career he opened a perfumery in Orvieto.
