The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball team in the National League. The LA Dodgers emerged from the Brooklyn Dodgers by moving in 1958. Relocation This applies probably still one of the most spectacular in the history of U.S. professional sports. This, together with the relocation of the New York Giants to San Francisco ( since the San Francisco Giants ) began on the west coast of the era of the league ( Major League ) baseball, it had not been there until then. The Dodgers play their home games since moving out in Dodger Stadium.

The name " Dodgers " (literally: " the Elusive " ) arises from the fact that Brooklyn was once known for its many trams, where the inhabitants had to move regularly. It is also an allusion to the figure of " The Artful Dodger " from the book Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.
