Lou Henry Hoover

Louise " Lou" Henry Hoover ( born March 29, 1874 in Waterloo, Iowa, † January 7, 1944 in New York City ) was the wife of U.S. President Herbert Hoover and First Lady of the United States March 4, 1929 to the 4. March 1933.

Her parents were Florence Ida Ward Henry and Charles Delano Henry. The family first lived in Iowa, but then moved to Whittier.

Lou rode and drove like and spoke five languages, including Chinese. 1894 she attended Stanford University. She was the first American woman to be awarded a doctorate in geology.

Herbert and Lou were married on February 10, 1899 They had two sons: . Herbert Charles Hoover ( August 4, 1903 *, † July 9, 1969 ) and Allan Hoover ( born July 17, 1907 † 4 November 1993).

Lou was buried in the Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto, California. 1964 her grave was to West Branch, Iowa, laid.
