Luton Town F.C.

Luton Town ( officially: Luton Town Football Club, in short: Luton Town FC or rare: Luton Town FC or abbreviated LTFC ) - also known as The Hatters ( German The Hatter) - is an English football club based in Luton. He rose at the end of the 2006/07 season as a table next to last of the Football League Championship, the second highest English league to the third tier, the Football League One. Since the 2009/10 season, the club only plays in the Conference National, the fifth- highest division because of relegation from the Football League Two. The club's colors are white and black.

Association

The club was founded in 1885 as Luton Town Football Club, merged as Wanderers FC Luton and Luton Excelsior FC. In 1897 the club was first included in the Football League, but missed the 1900 re-election by the other members of the league. 1920 was followed by the return to professional football.

The home games are played at Kenilworth Stadium since 1905, offering around 10,000 spectators today. Previously, the capacity was significantly greater. The record attendance was recorded on March 4, 1959 in the FA Cup against FC Blackpool with 30 069 spectators.

In July 2008, Luton set a very sad record: because of illegal financial transactions in the past, some of whom had even threatened the existence of the club, the Football Association took the club with a record point deduction of 30 points as a burden for the 2008/ 09 season. Initially, only ten points deduction were imposed for breach of the insolvency conditions of the Football League, however, the FA increased dramatically 30 meters. This mortgage turned out for the team to be too heavy, so that the descent from the Football League to the Conference National could not be avoided. This is the first time the club no longer represented in the Football League for 89 years.
