Mārtiņš Karsums

Mārtiņš Karsums ( born February 2, 1986 in Riga, Latvian SSR) is a Latvian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Dynamo Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2013.

Career

Mārtiņš Karsums began his career as a hockey player with the HK Riga Lido Nafta, for which he was active in the 2000/ 01 season. After two years with Prizma Riga Latvian joining in the Canadian Junior Football League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was from 2003 to 2006 for the Moncton Wildcats on the ice. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 in the second round than a total of 64 players from the Boston Bruins. After playing in the first two years solely for their farm team, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, was the aggressor in the 2008 /09 season his debut in the National Hockey League for Boston. In six games he one assist succeeded During the season Karsums was discharged together with Matt Lashoff of the Bruins Mark Recchi to the Tampa Bay Lightning, for which he scored to end of the season five points scorer, including a goal in 18 games.

In the season 2009/10 he came exclusively with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL for use. It was also his least effective season in North America. In January 2010 he was loaned out in consultation with the Management Tampa to Dinamo Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League. In the summer of 2010 and 2012, his contract was extended in each case. After the end of the 2012/13 season Karsums expressed his desire to play for another club and was ultimately delivered to the HK Dynamo Moscow in May 2013.

Internationally

For Latvia Karsums took at junior level at the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and the Under-20 Junior World Cup in 2006 in part. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the A World Championships 2008, 2009 and 2010 and at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
