Metallurg Novokuznetsk (Russian Металлург Новокузнецк ) is an ice hockey club established in 1949 the Russian city of Novokuznetsk. The club colors are black and red Metallurg Novokuznetsk plays in the Kontinental Hockey League. The home games are played at the Sports Palace of the Kuznetsk metallurgists, which has a capacity for 8,000 visitors.

History

The club was founded in 1949 as Metallurg Stalinsk. As part of the renaming of the city of Stalinsk in Novokuznetsk in 1961, the name of the ice hockey club changed. Since its founding in 1949, the team in the years 1964 and 1966, won the league title Klass A, 2 group and, in 1971, 1987 and 1990 the title of the Wtoraja league. With the establishment of the Super League Metallurg Novokuznetsk was added to selbige in 1993 and played until the dissolution of the League in 2008 there continuously. The best finish here was a fourth place in the season 1999 /2000.

Since the founding of the KHL Metallurg 2008 belongs to this league.
