Miss Polonia

Miss Poland is a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Poland, which means there Miss Polonia. It was first held in 1929 by the magazines Poranny Express and courier Czerwony to determine a participant for the newly created Miss Europe contest.

Miss Polonia, however, was not elected each year, before the Second World War, most recently 1937. For a long interruption of the competition, the war and the subsequent reign of socialism ensured. The countries of the socialist camp refused beauty contests from ideological reasons and also did not participate in international competitions. One exception was the liberal Yugoslavia. In Poland, Miss elections were in a phase of " political thaw " in 1957/58 temporarily held again, the winners as candidates even internationally. Annual competitions are held back only since 1983. They are organized by Biuro Miss Polonia. Finalists will participate in the international contest for Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Europe, Miss Earth and Miss Baltic Sea.
