State broadcaster ARD

The Central German Broadcasting (MDR ) is the broadcaster of the states of Saxony, Saxony -Anhalt and Thuringia ( radio and television). He is a member of the ARD and has the legal form of an institution under public law. He took over in the wake of reunification, the radio station of the GDR in respect of any part of the transmission area ( except Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania).

Origin and history

The Central German Broadcasting has its origins in the Central German Broadcasting AG founded in 1924 ( Mirag ). Orchestras and choirs of the MDR

MDR Sinfonieorchester

MDR Radio Choir

Founded in 1946 as the Radio Choir Leipzig MDR Radio Choir is now the largest professional concert choir in Germany. Since May 1998, the Englishman Howard Arman is choir director and artistic director.

MDR Children's Choir

Concerts

Fernsehballett
