Molpré

Molpré is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Molpré is located on 786 m above sea level. M., approximately 13 km east-northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The village street lines extending in the Jura, in the valley of the Val de Mièges on a hill between the streams of Serpentine in the north and Ruisseau d' Essavilly in the south.

History

From the 12th to the 14th century Molpré formed its own government, which was under the suzerainty of the reign of Nozeroy. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Until 1794, the village was called Mauprel. 1813 merged with Molpré Mièges, but was separated again in 1846 and since then has been an independent municipality.

Population

With 22 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Molpré one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 125 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Molpré was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and livestock village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Nozeroy after Frasnian. Further road links exist with Mièges and Mignovillard.
