Montperreux

Montperreux is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Montperreux is situated at 1000 m above sea level, about 9 km south of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the Haut- Doubs, on a Verebnungsfläche a scenic location about 150 m above the eastern shore of the Lac de Saint-Point, on the slope of the ridge of Montperreux.

The area of ​​11.61 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The western boundary runs along the usually relatively shallow shores of Lac de Saint-Point, ranging from easy to advanced into the lake alluvial fan of springing with the Source Bleue creek almost to the outflow of the Doubs. From the shores of the lake community area extends eastward across the terrain of terraces and Chaudron Montperreux up to the adjacent, predominantly forested, partly lined with pastures anticline of Montperreux. History

Montperreux belonged in the Middle Ages to the rule of Pontarlier. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. To a field change occurred in 1856 when the main part of the municipality of soil Chaudron the community Montperreux was assigned. With the opening of the tram, the wrong of Pontarlier via Mouthe after Foncine -le-Haut, Montperreux was connected to public traffic in 1900. Attractions

The village church was built in the 18th century. A chapel from the 15th century is located on the northern outskirts of the village. Among the natural attractions near the Lac de Saint-Point also includes the sources Source Bleue and Fontaine Ronde. The latter is located in the eponymous Combe on the eastern edge of the municipality of soil.

Population

With 770 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Montperreux one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 404 persons were still counted ), a striking population growth was recorded since the early 1970s thanks to the attractive residential area again. Since then, the population has almost quadrupled.

Economy and infrastructure

Montperreux has long been a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

As a resort in a popular tourist area in the High Jura Montperreux now benefiting also from tourism. The community is geared both to the summer tourism (water sports, fishing, hiking, cycling ) and on winter tourism (especially alpine).

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It is located above the secondary road D437 which leads from Pontarlier to Mouthe. Another road connection with the main road N57 in the Combe de la Fontaine Ronde.
