Bouverans

Bouverans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bouverans is located 825 meters above sea level, about twelve kilometers west-southwest of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on the vast plateau of Arlier ( Pontarlier - Frasnian ), both sides of the Drugeon, northwest of the Montagne du Laveron.

The area of ​​18.17 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Arlier, which is on average 830 m. It is mostly covered by meadows, but also shows greater moorlands. The area is drained by the Drugeon northeast to Doubs. Previously meandered the Drugeon the moorland area, today he is largely channeled. To Bouverans include two bog lakes: Lac de l' ENTONNOIR at the foot of Laveron and the Etang Berthelot ( privately owned ). History

In the Middle Ages Bouverans belonged to the manor of La Rivière, which was under the lords of Chalon. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was burnt down in 1639 by the troops of Duke Bernhard of Saxe- Weimar. Together with the Franche -Comté Bouverans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 2003 Bouverans is a member of the comprehensive 10 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Plateau de Frasnian et du Val du Drugeon.

Attractions

The village church of Bouverans was built in the 19th century. Close to the Lac de l' ENTONNOIR the chapel Notre Dame du Lac, which was built from 1860 to 1862.

Population

With 347 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bouverans one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1876 511 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure
