Mueang Phayao District
Amphoe Mueang Phayao ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง พะเยา, pronunciation: mɯ̄aŋ p ʰ ā.jāw ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Phayao. The Phayao province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The capital of the province of Phayao Phayao is also called.
Geography
Adjacent areas (from north clockwise): Amphoe Chai May Phayao Province, Amphoe Pa Daet Province Chiang Rai, Amphoe Phu Kamyao and the Doc Khamtai again in Phayao, and Amphoe Ngao and Wang Nuea in the province of Lampang.
History
1917, the district was renamed Mueang Phayao Phayao. In 1938, the word Mueang was removed. In 1977, the province of Phayao was established, it was renamed again in Mueang Phayao.
Education
In Amphoe Mueang Phayao is the University of Phayao.
Attractions
- Wat Si Khom Kham ( วัด ศรี โคม คำ ) - with ancient Lanna temple on the banks of Khwan Phayao ( Phayao Lake)
Management
Amphoe Mueang Phayao consists of 15 communes ( tambon), which further into 157 villages ( Muban ) are divided.
Phayao itself has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of the whole tambon Wiang and Mae Tam
In addition, there are nine small towns ( thesaban tambon) and four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
