Nebelschütz

Nebelschütz, Sorbian Njebjelčicy, is a village in the center of the East Saxon administrative district of Bautzen in Upper Lusatia. She is a member of the Management Association of Am Kloster water ( Zarjadniski Zwjazk " PRI Klóšterskej Wodze "). Two-thirds of the population speak Sorbian.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located in the Western Lusatia around three kilometers east of the city Kamenz and 20 km north- west of Bautzen, the point of contact of three natural areas. To the north- east, the West Lusatian hill and mountain country extends the relatively flat Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond area to the southeast, the gently undulating plains Oberlausitzer, to the west. By districts Miltitz and Nebelschütz the Jawor ( Jawora ) flows. It is a small stream that was formerly dammed between the two districts to a storage pool, and also serves as a fishing spot. The A 4 can be reached via the road S 94 and the Burkau connection (approx. 15 km).

History

The first mention of Nebelschütz dated to the year 1304. In a document of the monastery of St. Mary Star two brothers from Nebelschütz be mentioned. As regards the manorial ownership in Nebelschütz in the 14th and 15th centuries, there is only incomplete traditions. Originally, the site is likely to have heard the in the area rich wealthy men of Kamenz. In the interest of register Marienstern from the year 1374 it is mentioned that the Cistercian income from Nebelschütz related. The village or at least some goods in the town have been sold or pledged several times during the 15th century. As landlords over parts of Nebelschütz among others Members of the family of Metzradt and the city Kamenz mentioned. At least during the first quarter of the 16th century the monastery had acquired the entire village. St. Mary's star remained until the redemption of the manorial system in 1832 owners of Nebelschütz. Therefore, the population of the place during the Reformation has also remained Catholic.

Since May 1, 2001 Nebelschütz is a member of the Management Association of Am Kloster water.

Population

According to the census of 2011, there were at this time of 1,196 inhabitants, 1,011 Roman Catholic ( 84.5 %), Protestant 48 (4%) and 137 belonged to another or no religion at ( 11.5%).
