Noah Martin

Noah Martin ( born July 26, 1801 in Epsom, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, † May 28 1863 in Dover, New Hampshire ) was an American politician and 1852-1854 Governor of the State of New Hampshire.

Early years and political rise

Noah Martin studied until 1824 at Dartmouth College Medicine. After his graduation, he was successful, after two intermediate stations, active in Dover as a doctor. There he was instrumental in the founding of the Medical Association of Dover. He was also a member of the Medical Association of New Hampshire. Martin was a member of the Democratic Party. In the years 1830, 1832 and 1837 he was a member of the House of Representatives from New Hampshire. Between 1835 and 1836 he was a member of the State Senate. In 1852 he was elected governor of his state.

Governor of New Hampshire

Noah Martin took up his new post on June 3, 1852. After a re-election he was able to officiate until June 8, 1854. During this time, he promoted such as agriculture. He was of the opinion that the tray agriculture should be taught in public schools. Martin was also a member of the Agricultural Association of New Hampshire. In the state administration, he entered into private hands for a shift from parts of the public services. He sat down and committed to no longer issued by railway licenses as economically necessary.
