Noailhac, Corrèze

Noailhac ( Occitan Noalhac ) is a commune with 364 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze on the western edge of the Massif Central. The municipality is a member of the Association of Communes Villages du Midi Corrézien. The inhabitants call themselves Noailhacois (it).

Geography

Tulle, prefecture of the department is located, about 35 kilometers north-east of Brive -la -Gaillarde about 15 kilometers north-west and Beaulieu -sur -Dordogne approximately 25 kilometers southeast.

The Loyre, a left tributary of the Corrèze, rises in the municipality.

Neighboring communities of Noailhac are Lanteuil in the north, Lagleygeolle in the northeast, Collonges- la- Rouge on the east, south and Turenne Ligneyrac in the southwest and west.

Traffic

The junction 52 to the A20 Motorway, located about 12 miles northwest.

History

Originally, the town only a small castle and a church in the 13th century and came into possession of the Viscount de Turenne. This transfer of ownership, the community was also connected to the castellany of Collonges. At the request of Viscount the village came under the care of the Famille d' Astorg. 1738, after the fall of the house of Turenne, the Dukes of Noailles bought the place.

Attractions

  • The church of Saint -Pierre- ès -Liens, a religious building from the 12th and 15th centuries, is classified as a monument historique since 6 February 1923. It is interesting especially the south facade of the building, because there stands an impressive crowd Watchtower upwards.
  • The Château de Lacoste, a castle from the 15th, 17th and 18th century, is classified as a monument historique since May 16, 1972.
