Nome Census Area, Alaska

The Nome Census Area is a census area in the U.S. state of Alaska on the Seward Peninsula and along the east coast of Norton Sound. It also includes the St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea.

In 2010, the population was 9,492. Nome is part of the Unorganized Borough and thus has no headquarters. The Census Area has an area of ​​73,253 km ², of which 59,572 km ² to 13,681 km ² land and on water. The largest city in the region is Nome.

Parts of the Yukon Delta and Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuges and the Bering Land Bridge National Preserves are located in Nome Census Area.
