Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska
Fairbanks North Star Borough ( German: Fairbanks North Star District ) is a Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska in the United States of America. The Borough is part of the metropolitan area Alaskan Fairbanks, known as Fairbanks, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area, which extends over the entire territory of the boroughs and only slightly smaller than the entire New Jersey in the U.S. is. In 2010, a total population of 97 581 was determined.
The Borough has an area of 19,280 square kilometers; of which 19,079 square miles of land and 201 square miles (1.04 percent) of water.

Administration and policy
The Council of the borough consists of nine members who are elected every three years. The Borough Mayor is the chief administrator and is elected for the same period. Currently, this is Luke Hopkins.
Fairbanks is home to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the main campus of the University of Alaska system. Is also located at the University of the Georgeson Botanical Garden, a botanical garden.
