Oleksandr Turchynov

Olexandr Turchynov Walentynowytsch ( born March 31, 1964 in Dnipropetrovsk ) is a Ukrainian politician and member of the All-Ukrainian Union " Fatherland".

Since February 22, 2014 he is president of the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. After the ouster of Viktor Yanukovych, Parliament Turchynov certain on February 23, also for interim president of the country.

Life

Olexandr Turchynov finished his studies at the Technological Faculty of Metallurgical Institute of Dnipropetrovsk with distinction. Subsequently, he worked in the steel plant of Krivoy Rog ( Kriworischstal ). From 1987 he worked in the Komsomol, among others, in the propaganda department. From 1990 to 1991 he worked as editor in chief of the Ukrainian Branch of the Press Agency Una -press APN. In 1992 he was chairman of the committee for privatization and de-monopolization of industrial production in the management of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In 1993, he briefly worked as advisor to the then Prime Minister Leonid Kuchma. After his resignation to Turchynov employed continue with the privatization of the Ukrainian economy.

Together with Pavlo Lazarenko in 1994 he was involved in the founding of the party Hromada that supported the presidential candidacy Leonid Kuchma. 1998 Turchynov was elected on the list of the party in the Verkhovna Rada. In 1999 he founded together with his long-time political companion Yulia Tymoshenko, the party Batkivshchyna whose vice chairman Turchynov is today. He was first elected on the list of the party alliance Blok Juliji Tymoshenko ( BJuT ) in the Rada 2002.

In the presidential elections of 2004 he worked with the campaign staff of the later President Viktor Yushchenko. After his election victory this Turchynov appointed head of the Ukrainian domestic intelligence Sluzhba bespeky Ukrajiny. He should undergo a comprehensive reform of the intelligence. As Yulia Tymoshenko resigned from the Office of the Prime Minister in September 2005, also Turchynov left his post and headed from there to the campaign staff of BJuT. In the parliamentary elections of 2006 he was again elected and was in the following legislature Group Vice- Chairman of the BJuT. In May 2007 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council of Ukraine.

After the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was first deputy of the new Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. On 10 April 2008, he was set up by BJuT as a candidate for the early Kiev mayoral elections. He entered this May 25, 2008, inter alia, against Vitali Klitschko. Choosing decided incumbent Leonid Tschernowezkyj for themselves. Turchynov reached 19.13% of the vote and placed second.

After Tymoshenko's resignation as a result of their defeat in the 2010 presidential election was Turchynov of 3 March 2010 until the election of the new Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on 11 March 2010 Acting Prime Minister.

Turchynov is Baptist and pastor of a Baptist church Kiev. He has also written several novels, of which Illusion of Fear was filmed.
