The Omani Rial ( also Rial Omani, plural: Rials; Arab ريال عماني, DMG Riyal ʿ UMANI ) is the currency of the country of Oman. One Rial is divided into 1000 Baisa ( بيسة ) ​​.

The name derives from the Spanish Rial Real, the currency in Spain was for several centuries, (derived from the Spanish rey = king).

The Omani Rial are currently available in the following denominations:

  • Notes have values ​​of 100, 200 and Baisa of ½, 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Rials.
  • Coins are available in values ​​of 5, 10, 25, 50 Baisa.

Currently, there are efforts to replace the Rial by a common currency of the Gulf States.
