Operation Nougat

Operation Nougat was a series of 45 U.S. nuclear weapons tests in 1961 and 1962 conducted on the Nevada Test Site in Nevada. Only the test Gnome was held in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It was the first series of nuclear weapons tests conducted by the United States after the termination of the nuclear test moratorium in 1959 by the USSR and the first series, which consisted only of underground tests. Content matched the test largely those of the Hardtack II series.
