Project 58 was a series of American nuclear weapons testing, which was conducted in December 1957 and March 1958 at the Nevada Test Site. A total of four nuclear weapons tests took place. The operation was divided into Project 58 (Pascal C, Coulomb C) and Project 58A (Venus, Uranus ). The aim of the operation was to test the operation Hardtack to be used in devices and adjust accordingly. In the second test ( C - Coulomb ), there was an unexpected explosion, leading to a radiation of 500 mSv per hour. The atomic cloud reached after several hours of Los Angeles, where very low readings caused a brief public concern.
