Operation Sunbeam

As Operation Dominic II, the continental nuclear tests of the American nuclear test series Operation Dominic are referred to, which were carried out from July 7 to July 17, 1962 at the Nevada Test Site. In the Ministry of Defence, the test series was called Operation Sunbeam. A total of four nuclear weapons were tested.

During the operation, various tactical nuclear warheads were tested, including the Davy Crockett. The surface test Little Feller I was the test of a " Davy Crockett ", during this test, the military exercise Exercice Ivy Flats was performed. Nearly 3,000 employees of the U.S. Department of Defense and 1,000 soldiers took part in the exercise.

The nuclear weapons should provide information on the effects of the electromagnetic pulse. Furthermore, tested the effects of atomic bomb explosions on buildings and airplanes.

Operation Dominic II was the last atmospheric test series at the Nevada Test Site, all other tests were conducted underground.
