Peter Guarasci
Peter Anthony Guarasci ( born February 25, 1974 in Niagara Falls, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional basketball player. After studying Guarasci played professionally in Europe, where he was regarded as EU nationals as a result of his second Italian citizenship and thus fell under no restrictions. As a Canadian national player Guarasci won a silver and a bronze medal at America Championships and participated alongside the World Championships 1998 at the Olympic basketball tournament in Sydney 2000 part. His greatest success with a club team is winning the cup in 2000 with the Opel Skyliners Frankfurt. In addition to a season in the German Basketball Bundesliga and the Spanish Liga ACB played Guarasci otherwise during his professional career until 2008 exclusively for Italian clubs. After his playing career was Guarasci coach in Canadian university sports.
Career
Guarasci was formed in 1992 to study at the Fairfield University in Connecticut, where he played for the college team Stags in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in the NCAA. However, after two years, he moved in 1994 to Simon Fraser University to the Canadian west coast. There he played with the high school team communities in the NAIA. With the Canadian student selection Guarasci won a bronze medal at the 1995 Summer Universiade in Fukuoka.
1996 ended Guarasci his studies and began a career as a professional player in Italy, where he was granted citizenship because of his Italian ancestry. In three seasons, he played for the club Scavolini Pesaro, the decline in 1998 from the Italian first division Serie A in the second division. Although Pesaro managed its chances of promotion as substitutes after the 1998/99 season, but Guarasci moved to the German Basketball Bundesliga for the Opel Skyliners Frankfurt am Main, who had taken over the premiership license of Dragons Rhöndorf. In their first season in the National Basketball League 1999/2000, the Frankfurt achieved a third place after the main round and eliminated in the play-off semi-final series against the former champion almost Bayer Giants Leverkusen from the championship award from.
