History

On July 15, 773 Pfatter was first mentioned. Pfatter for centuries the ducal court seat. The Regensburg Cathedral Chapter and several Regensburg monasteries were wealthy until the secularization in Pfatter. On the night of 12 to December 13, 1491 Pfatter and its surroundings on the orders of Duke Albrecht was looted and burned by the brothers Jerome and Bernard of Stauf in the wake of the noble uprising against the Duke Albrecht. In 1796 the place is called a " chur princely Marktfleken in Lower Bavaria". 1818 was the present political community.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent communities Geisling, Gmünd and Griesau were integrated into the community Pfatter.

Coat of arms

Blazon: On a silver shield head, in a blue wave bar in black with silver three silver beet leaves.

The blue wave bar is a canting symbol for the place name, derived from the small river which flows Pfatter very close to the Danube. The silver beet are symbolic of the intensive cultivation of well-known Pfatterer beets in the fertile alluvial plain. The coat of arms is conducted since 1974.

  • Parish Church of the Nativity of Mary of Our Lady in Geisling is art-historically interesting and was rebuilt several times.
  • The Catholic parish church of the Assumption in Pfatter goes back to the 15th century.
