Pirate Party (Spain)

The Partido Pirata ( Pirate Party, shortly PIRATA ) is a political party in Spain. It was modeled on the Swedish Piratpartiet in the international movement of Pirate Parties and is a member of the international umbrella organization Pirate Parties International. She joined the Spanish general election, 2011 to the first time.

As usual in Spain, exist in some provinces independent parties. These are the Pirate Party of Catalonia ( Pirates de Catalunya ), and the Pirate Party of Galicia ( Piratas de Galicia ).

Chairman since early 2011 Ángel Vázquez Hernández ( b. 1968 ). He followed Carlos Ayala Vargas ( born 1980 ), who held the post since the party's founding.

In the local elections of 2011, the Pirate Party joined in Madrid and Málaga, reaching 0.3 % of the vote. In the Spanish general election, 2011 on 20 November 2011, the party joined in the provinces of Castellón, Navarra, Huesca and Teruel, reaching an average of 0.4 % of the vote.
