Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Creußen, Speichersdorf, Speinsharter forestry, Vorbach, Schlammersdorf, Kirchenthumbach and Nennslingen.
History
As part of the Prussian principality since 1792 Bayreuth was Prebitz from 1500 in the Frankish Empire circle. It was in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810.
Spin-offs
On May 1, 1978 parts of the territory were ceded to the community Speichersdorf.
Population Development
Policy
Mayor has been in office since May 1, 2008 Hans Freiberg (CDU community). Its predecessor was Hans Engelbrecht (CDU Community), which was in Bavaria since August 11, 1963 in the Office and last the longest serving Mayor.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the manufacturing sector and 37 in the area of trade and transport any social insurance contributions at the workplace. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 353 in the manufacturing sector, there were four establishments in the construction operation. In addition, in 1999, there were 46 farms with an agricultural area of 1371 hectares, of which 879 hectares of arable land.
