Rabea Grand
Rabea Grand ( born June 15, 1984 in Leuk ) is a former Swiss ski racer. She started in all disciplines and reached their best results in slalom and super combined and the downhill. Grand drove in two World Cup races in the top ten, won the bronze medal in the team competition at the World Championships in 2007 and 2009 was Swiss champion in the giant slalom.
Biography
Rabea Grand rode her first FIS races in December 1999. Having two years later celebrated her first victory, she was henceforth also in the European Cup for use, where she reached her first top - 10 finish in February 2005. A month ago she had already given her World Cup debut in the slalom in Maribor. They first started out in the World Cup only in slalom and giant slalom and won her first World Cup points on 10 March 2006 with number 23 in the slalom in Levi.
In the European Cup Grand achieved a victory and three podiums, which she won the downhill standings and third in the overall standings was in season 2005/ 06. Starting next winter, she started in the World Cup next to the slalom and the giant slalom - she drove less and less - in Downhill and Super - combinations. Front placements you do not get in the World Cup but at first, but at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, Sweden, it reached in the Super Combined at least the 13th Place. She was also 25th in the slalom. They celebrated the biggest success with their team-mates in the team competition, where she won the bronze medal. Shortly after the World Cup, they also drove in the World Cup for the first time into the top 20 and 22 December 2007, it reached a tenth of the super combined of St. Anton am Arlberg her first top-10 result. At the end of the season 2007/ 08 she also drove in the Super Combined, which has now become her strongest discipline, further twice in the top 15
At the beginning of the 2008/ 09 reached Grand with eleventh place in Levi her best slalom result in the World Cup. The ever best World Cup result she achieved on 20 February 2009 by finishing fourth in the super combination of Tarvisio. At a podium finish only two short of hundredths of seconds. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere they were each 14 in slalom and super combined. In the giant slalom as she left two years earlier. At the end of the winter it was Swiss champion in the giant slalom.
In the 2009/10 season more top rankings stayed away. Grand drove in three World Cup races into the top 20, including was 15th place in the downhill in Crans -Montana, her best World Cup result in this discipline. Successful it was in the European Cup. After winning last year two slaloms, she decided in the 2009/10 season with a win, a second and a fifth exit rating for themselves. On the following winter, Grand not prepared with the Swiss team, but with a personal trainer. In the World Cup she succeeded in the first months of the 2010/11 season, however, only a top 30 result. On 1 February 2011 Rabea Grand announced her withdrawal from ski racing. The basic disagreements were called with the team management.
