Ragow-Merz

Ragow -Merz ( Lower Rogow - MERC ) is a municipality in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg. The community Ragow -Merz belongs to the Office Schlaubetal with headquarters in the city garbage rose. It consists of two districts Ragow and Merz.

History

For the first time the village street Ragow in 1344 was mentioned as Rogow and 1491 Rago documented. The Slavic name means roughly settlement on a horn, a promontory. The first mention of Merz found in 1341 under the personal name Johannes de Mertz. 1405 recorded the village as Merzik, Mertz. After the Brandenburg place names book, the name is derived from the Slavic and also could be a settlement in dry wood, called shrubs.

The municipality was created on 1 June 2002 by the merger of the two eponymous towns.

Traffic

Ragow -Merz is on the main road 87, which connects Frankfurt ( Oder) and Beeskow.

Ragow -Merz part of the transport system of Berlin-Brandenburg. As public transport is the bus 442, bus transport Oder-Spree available, which connects to Beeskow. The nearest railway station is on the railway line Beeskow Frankfurt ( Oder) King Wusterhausen.

In the community Siehdichum is the airfield ironworks city of Frankfurt ( Oder).
